Several constituents have recently been in contact with me regarding their EBSS AFP NI (£600) Energy Voucher which they have not received, however, they have been informed by their energy provided that it has already been redeemed. I have raised this on several occasions with the U.K. Government.
I recently received a response from Amanda Solloway MP, the Minister for Energy Consumers & Affordability at the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero, regarding this matter.
The Minister acknowledges that there have been a small number of cases where customers reported not receiving their vouchers, yet they were already redeemed. In such instances, the Minister advises that customers should contact the Police Service Northern Ireland (PSNI) to report this potential fraud or theft. The PSNI is actively investigating all reported cases, and customers should provide the crime number issued by the police to their energy supplier. The supplier will review the case once the police investigation is complete.
The Minister further advises that they understand the frustration this may cause for those awaiting their vouchers and that the Department is closely collaborating with suppliers to ensure eligible customers receive their payments promptly, all while ensuring the appropriate use of public funds.
See the attached letter which provides the Minister's full response.
